Visit Qatar, the Professional Triathletes Organisaiton (PTO) and the Qatar Triathlon Federation held a press conference to officially announce the launch of the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final Week and to confirm Doha’s readiness to welcome some of the world’s leading triathletes from December 10 to 13 across Lusail City.
The press conference was attended by Mr. Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon; Mr. Sam Renouf, Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Triathletes Organisation; and Mr. Abdulaziz Al Tamimi, President of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation. The event also brought together top international athletes, including the current T100 series leaders heading to Qatar, Hayden Wilde and Kate Waugh, alongside Vincent Luis and Julie Derron, as well as Qatari athlete Aliya Al-Hamad, who will compete in the championship.
The series of races has kicked off on Wednesday, December 10 with the Qatar T100 Kick Off Run. The run took place along Lusail Boulevard.
On Thursday, December 11, the event and fan village will open from 10:00 to 14:00 at Lusail Plaza. Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to enjoy an active and engaging environment suitable for families and spectators of all ages.
Professional racing begins on Friday, December 12. Friday’s schedule also includes youth and community moments, beginning with the Youth Super Sprint Triathlon at 06:30, the Women’s Pro T100 race at 10:00, the Men’s Pro T100 race at 12:35, Pro Men’s and Women’s Awards Ceremony at 16:00 and a Celebration Walk and Opening Ceremony for T100 Age Group World Championships at 16:45 that will welcome participants of the T100 Age Group World Championships, representing 45 countries.
The inaugural T100 Age Group World Championship will take place on Saturday, December 13, offering amateur athletes the chance to compete for world titles. The day begins at 06:30 with the amateur 100km races (2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run), followed by a 10:30 start for the Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run). Then Amateur Sprint distance Awards Ceremony from 13:45 till 14:15 followed by Amateur 100km distance Awards Ceremony from 15:30 till 16:00. Spectators can enjoy all races free of charge at Lusail Plaza, with large screens broadcasting the event, and the fan zone offering entertainment, activities, and refreshments.
