The programme will be broadcasted live from Old Doha Port, set in an open-air amphitheatre equipped with screens, providing audiences with a unique interactive experience that blends entertainment and live participation in a lively Ramadan atmosphere, with the second edition of the Throwback Festival serving as the ideal backdrop.
For generations, Emrah wa Erbah has been one of the most popular entertainment programmes during the holy month, bringing Qataris and families from across the region together in an atmosphere of fun and live interaction. The show became associated with the late broadcaster Jassim Abdulaziz, who hosted it for five years from the Qatar National Theatre, drawing large audiences and making it one of the most iconic Ramadan television programmes in Qatar. With his energetic style and direct engagement with viewers, he turned the show into a highly anticipated Ramadan tradition.
Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, said: “Our collaboration with Qatar TV to bring back the Emrah wa Erbah programme plays a vital role in our mission to provide an enriching festive atmosphere during the holy month of Ramadan for both residents and visitors. Through our ‘Welcome, Dear Neighbors’ campaign, launched in celebration of Ramadan, we invite visitors from GCC countries to experience Qatar’s exceptional Ramadan atmosphere, offering rich cultural and social experiences that reflect the spirit of the holy month.”
Ali Saleh Al-Sada, Director of Qatar Television, stated that Emrah wa Erbah is one of the many ongoing and fruitful collaborations between Qatar Television and Visit Qatar. He explained that this media project will mark a significant leap in the future of this partnership. He also noted that the programme, which is returning to the spotlight after years of hiatus, was one of the most prominent Ramadan shows on television, and therefore, its revival was carefully studied to be reintroduced in a modern and contemporary format.
The programme features interactive competitions that test knowledge and quick-wittedness, such as Ten by Ten, where contestants select boxes with random numbers and answer questions to win prizes. In Less - More, participants estimate the quantity in a glass jar, while in the Homophones challenge participants match the correct information to boxes based on a specific theme. Other challenges include Face Game, which involves true/false questions, Calculate True, a test of family teams' maths skills, and What's in the Box?, which requires participants to think and analyse to identify a mysterious object.
The programme also features the Al Tajouri competition, where participants try to figure out the missing combination to open a prize safe. Additionally, the programme introduces an interactive dimension to outdoor competitions by asking the audience questions at various locations each day. Digital engagement continues with the Qatari Proverbs competition on Qatar TV's social media platforms, where valuable prizes are raffled off daily.
Taking place in an authentic Ramadan atmosphere at Doha's Old Port, the programme offers a blend of entertainment and direct interaction between the audience and participants, making it a unique addition to this year’s Ramadan events. The collaboration between Visit Qatar and Qatar TV underscores their commitment to providing innovative content that enhances the audience experience during the holy month, supporting initiatives that combine authenticity and sophistication in the heart of Doha.
The Emrah wa Erbah programme can be watched daily on Qatar TV at 22:00, and viewers can participate in the various challenges either by attending at the Old Doha Port or by engaging on social media. To participate, please register at the QTV app ‘Sharik’.
