Shop Qatar 2021 Design Week begins at Doha Design District

The partnership between Qatar Tourism and Doha Design District aims to cultivate local talent by hosting pop-up shops, design workshops and renowned international designers.

Shop Qatar 2021’s Design Week kicked off on Sunday, 3 October at the Doha Design District in Msheireb Downtown. Running until 9 October, Shop Qatar is hosting a series of fashion and cultural events including design workshops and a meet & greet with renowned Indian American designer Naeem Khan. In addition, there are over 30 popup shops at the Doha Design District by local designers, entrepreneurs as well as food and beverage outlets. The opening ceremony featured a pink themed fashion roaming show, in collaboration with Instudio, to raise awareness of breast cancer awareness month.

Shop Qatar 2021’s Design Week kicked off on Sunday, 3 October at the Doha Design District in Msheireb Downtown. Pop Up Shops

Over 20 local entrepreneurs will have pop-up shops at Doha Design District between 3-9 October. Local artists and designers will be able to exhibit their work, building new client bases.

UK based consignment store for sneakers and streetwear ‘Presented By’ will also have a pop-up shop, where patrons can customize purchases.

 Visitors will be able to refuel at various food and beverage pop up shops.

Design Workshops

The final week of Shop Qatar 2021 will feature several design workshops for local talent. Seven workshops will be held at Doha Design District, hosted in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU-Q) and other partners. Registration to reserve seats and payment (if required) can be made through the Virgin Megastore. The number of participants will also be limited in adherence to the guidelines of MoPH.

  • Candle workshop by Candeel on 3 October from 4-8 pm (Tickets: 450 QAR)
  • 2 Denim workshops by VCU-Q Arts on 4-5 October from 4-9 pm (Free)
  • 2 perfume making workshops by Francis Hembert (VCU-Q Arts) on 6-7 October from 4-9 pm (Tickets: 730 QAR)
  • Accessories workshop by Instudio on 8 October from 3-8 PM (Tickets: 300 QAR)
  • Skincare workshop by Instudio on 9 October from 3-8 PM (Tickets: 300 QAR)

International Fashion Designer

Doha Design District will host a private viewing of the exclusive collection by Indian American fashion designer Naeem Khan, held on 8 October between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. (Reservations can be made through this number: 44335588)

There are a number of fashion activations by international designers, as part of Shop Qatar 2021. Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra held three trunk shows at the Mondrian Hotel from 28-30 September 2021.  Celebrity designer Naeem Khan will show his designs at Lagoona Mall on Thursday, 7 October at 7 PM.

Msheireb Downtown Doha is Qatar’s first sustainable district in the heart of the city. Several venues within Msheireb Downtown are participating in Shop Qatar this year, offering residents and visitors unique experiences.
