The Council’s participation is part of its efforts to promote the destination among India’s thriving wedding and MICE segments
Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) is representing Qatar in EPEX Virtual 2020 as Qatar seeks to strengthen its position as a unique destination for business and weddings.
Organised virtually this year in October, November and January 2021, The Experiential Planner is India’s largest business platform connecting more than 350 travel, MICE and wedding planners from all over India with destinations, venues, DMCs, and suppliers across the world.
QNTC has held more than 30 meetings with MICE and wedding planners, including corporate buyers, event agency representatives and travel houses, with more engagements expected over the coming months. Through virtual seminars and discussion forums, QNTC is sharing best practices for conducting business activities in compliance with new health and safety guidelines introduced to prevent the spread of Covid-19. QNTC’s Qatar Clean Programme, launched in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, has been widely adopted, strengthening Qatar’s position as a safe destination for events.
Qatar’s seamless connectivity through its award-winning national carrier Qatar Airways and top-ranking hospitality sector make it an ideal destination for business events and weddings. Several policies have been introduced in recent years to assist event organisers and wedding planners such as visa facilitation, seamless check-in upon arrival to Hamad International Airport (HIA), and host site inspections.
QNTC has operated a representative office in India since 2018 and the country is considered one of the largest export markets for visitors in the world and a major visitor source market for Qatar, with more than 350,000 Indian nationals visiting in 2019.

About Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC)
Qatar National Tourism Council’s mission is to firmly establish Qatar on the global map as a place where cultural authenticity meets modernity, and where people of the world come together to experience unique offerings in culture, sports, business and family entertainment.
QNTC’s work is guided by the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy (QNTSS), which seeks to diversify the country’s tourism offering and increase visitor spending.
Since launching QNTSS, Qatar has welcomed over 14 million visitors. The economic impact of the tourism sector in Qatar is becoming increasingly visible with the government designating tourism in 2017 a priority sector in pursuit of a more diverse economy and more active private sector.
