Qatar International Food Festival looks set to end on a high this week

Award-winning chefs will perform live at the Cooking Theatre, and the whole family can enjoy daily cooking contests, culinary workshops, and entertainment.

 

The eleventh edition of Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) is entering its final week in a landmark three week run.  The festival, which opened on 26 November, is taking place at Al Bidda Park, and ran a special activation along Corniche Road in its opening week.  Over 140 vendors from regional and international markets are serving up culinary masterpieces.

The eleventh edition of Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) is entering its final week in a landmark three week run.  The festival, which opened on 26 November, is taking place at Al Bidda Park, and ran a special activation along Corniche Road in its opening week.  Over 140 vendors from regional and international markets are serving up culinary masterpieces.

QIFF Cooking Theatre

The live QIFF Cooking Theatre features a daily show with at least two events including cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs and competitions every weekday from 16:00 – 21:00 and 17:00 – 23:00 on weekends.

Chef’s Table

The Chef’s Table gives diners the opportunity to sit and eat with the chef who has cooked their meal. The restaurants below will be participating in this week’s Chef’s Table:

-          Hakkasan with Executive Chef Ho Yiek Chung on Monday, 13 December.

-          Bibo by Chef Dani Garcia with Executive Chef Santiago Guerrero on Wednesday, 15 December.

-          La Bodega Negra with Executive Chef Aaj Fernando from 13 December to 15 December.

-          Scalini with Executive Chef Roberto Apa through the week until 17 December.

-          Riyasat with Executive Chef Grenal Godinho through the week until 17 December.

-          Zengo with Chef Hari Wahyudin through the week until 17 December.

-          Toro with Chef Arturo Mendez through the week until 17 December.

-          Maya with Chef Sergio Peña through the week until 17 December.

 

Live Entertainment

Family entertainment options abound, with a mix of live music and DJs, roaming shows, mini golf, trampolines, a hot air balloon experience, carnival games, and more. Folk traditional bands from the region and internationally will also showcase their musical styles, making for a truly multicultural experience. Following are some of the notable performances:

-          Harget Kart will perform at 8pm on Wednesday, December 15

-          Music Vending Machine will perform at 6.30pm, 7.15pm and 8.15pm on Thursday, December 16

-          Major Fifth will perform at 6pm – 7pm on Friday, Dec ember 17

Fireworks

The ever-popular fireworks display made a return this year, taking place at 21:00 on the weekends i.e., Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the course of the festival. The final fireworks display of this year’s QIFF will take place on Friday, December 17 at 21:00.

Qatar Tourism works closely with partners from the private sector in developing a diverse and rich annual events calendar in order to energize the hospitality and retail sectors, drive domestic tourism and attract regional visitors year-round.
