The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar in cooperation with Qatar Tourism, Qatar Airways and Ooredoo organizes a special event to celebrate Garangao in Doha Corniche Plaza.

Doha Corniche witnesses an exceptional lighting starting from Al Funduq Park until Al Diwan Al Amiri, within a campaign to beautify the main areas in Doha with ‘Festive lightings’ including Al Zaman plaza and Corniche tunnel during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr, where the festive lightings are kicked off every day from 7:30 PM until 2:00 AM.
The Garangao event will include a range of activities that highlight Qatari traditions and culture designed particularly for children to learn and to create. There will be a fashion show contest for traditional Garangao outfit, decorating the traditional Batoola, drawing with Azzam, and Sadu bracelet workshops. Additionally, a leading Qatari artist will showcase their work in an art exhibition. There will be stage sessions explaining the Garangao tradition, as well as children singing traditional songs. Cultural quizzes and team-building activities with prizes will also be available, along with a fashion show contest where judges will choose the best traditional outfits. Attendees can also visit the Henna corner and enjoy traditional food and beverages.
Mr. Abdulla Saad Al-Saad, Public Relations and Communications Department Manager at Ashghal confirmed that the organization of Garangao event comes as a part of Ashghal’s social responsibility strategy and within the framework of the Ramadan activities that were kicked off at the beginning of the Holy Month. This event is aimed at promoting the traditional customs and raising awareness to younger generations regarding the importance of preserving this rich tradition.”

Mohammed Arqoub Al-Khaldi, Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar stated: “We are pleased to celebrate Garangao in cooperation with our partners to promote local traditions and customs, and we are keen with Qatar Tourism through these festive lightings to enrich the lives of citizens & residents by providing a leisure atmosphere for people in interaction with their religious & national events reflecting the spiritual atmosphere of the Holy Month and the joy of Eid Al-Fitr, in addition to creating a vibrant art scene characterized by creativity and the optimal use of lighting techniques, which in turn contributes to enriching the local tourism landscape. We are pleased to invite everyone to attend and enjoy the event.

As part of Qatar Tourism's “Feel Ramadan in Qatar” campaign, we worked alongside our partners at The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar to develop interactive lightings, a water show, and displays featuring illuminated Ramadan phrases, all created with exceptional art tools. In addition, we have organised a range of cultural events for children and adults for Garangao, including Drawing with Azzam , traditional singing, fashion shows, henna, cultural quizzes, and team building activities, all aimed at highlighting Qatar's rich heritage and traditions, as we hope for everyone to attend and experience this wonderful event in this Holy Month in Qatar.”
From his part, Mr. Hamad Al Khaja, Head of the Technical Support Department for Tourism Events and Festivals at Qatar Tourism, said: “Our Ramadan activities wrap up a successful season of family-friendly events under Qatar Tourism’s ‘Feel Winter in Qatar’ campaign launched a couple months ago, which included live shows of regional and international artists as well as world-class exhibitions and festivals. We invite Qatar’s community to enjoy the festive atmosphere offered by these beautiful light installations and Garangao activities.”
From her part, Eng. Jazmine Al-Sheikh, Project Design Manager said: “We are delighted to celebrate Garangao in festive lightings that contribute to providing more joy and the opportunity to enjoy wonderful shows, as shapes used in the designs are in forms reflective of Ramadan. Two different locations were chosen for the Festive lighting which are Al Zaman Plaza on Grand Hamad Street and the Corniche tunnel that connects the Al Masrah Park and Corniche. The two locations include a water show and displays with illuminated Ramadan phrases using exceptional art tools that will provide a unique splendor to the locations.”
