You must complete both the learning paths assigned to you in the learning platform:

  • Qatar Host for Tour Guides
  • Qatar Tour Guide Training Programme

Duration: approximately 40 hours (average time to complete is 8 days)

Available languages: English and Arabic

Pre-requisite: Should have an approved application from the Licensing department

Embark on an exhilarating journey of hands-on learning, where vital guiding skills are honed through immersive physical experiences. Supplementing this, delve into indispensable destination knowledge, a treasure trove gleaned from carefully curated visits to selected sites across the enchanting landscapes of Qatar.

Duration: 12 days | Timing: 08:00 AM to 16:00 PM

Off days: Saturday to Thursday | Friday off

Languages: Practical training is available in English while Mandarin and Arabic are available on demand dependent on market requirements.

Pre-requisite: Must have completed the assigned online learning paths mentioned in Step 1

Locations: Day 1 and 2 of the training is in classroom and the remaining days are at different attractions and experiences in Qatar. Your trainer will share a schedule with exact details a few days before your training start date.

Training outline:

Day 1 - Introduction and recap of online learning part 1

Day 2 – Online learning recap part 2 and cruise guiding

Day 3 - Demonstration of Souq Waqif tour and Msheireb museums

Day 4 – National Museum of Qatar and bus tour demonstration

Day 5 - Bus tour practice and Embrace Doha cultural session

Day 6 - Al Zubarah Archaeological site, and Purple Island

Day 7 - FANAR, Katara Cultural Village, and the Pearl

Day 8 - 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum and Aspire Zone

Day 9 - Doha port, MIA and Lusail

Day 10 - Shahaniya camel race track, FBQ museum and Education city

Day 11 - Souq Waqif and bus tour practice

Day 12 - Walking and bus tour practical assessments

Notes:

  • The schedule is subject to change before or during the training and you are expected to follow the trainer’s directions and communications
  •  The exact schedule for your group will be discussed by the trainer on Day 1 of your training
  • Training will be cancelled if the minimum number of participants are not met 3 working days before the start date

Upon passing the final practical assessment, your trainer will upload your results to the learning platform. You can view your results and download your training certificate from the learning platform.

You will receive an email from the Licensing department with the steps to apply for the license. More information and instructions are available in the ‘Issue license’ section on the Licensing e-services page.

Applicable fees to obtain your license:

  • Online learning - Free
  • Practical learning - Free
  • Final exam – QAR 1200 exam fee to be paid before starting the practical training 
  • License issuance fee – QAR 1000

Other fees:

  • Re-test – QAR 2000 to redo the assessment if you fail the final practical assessment
  • License renewal – QAR 1000 annual renewal fee
